A Lakes Region doctor has recovered from COVID-19 after contracting the virus while volunteering in a hospital considered a pandemic hot spot.

When his medical practice slowed down due to New Hampshire stay-at-home order, Dr. Paul Demasi said he wanted to help those in crisis. On April 10, he got what he asked for.

Demasi was sent to Monmouth Medical Center South in New Jersey while his wife, Mary Demasi, and their two sons stayed home in Tuftonboro.
